Guest Speaker -

Brian McBride

Brian visited us from K&K Thermoforming of Southbridge. He spoke to us about how his company was able to pivot during the coronavirus pandemic.

This family-owned company has been in the business of manufacturing sterile trays for medical applications, among other products for the electronics and food industries. When the restrictions that came along with the coronavirus hit, K&K had to be creative to stay afloat and running.

They thought back on previous experience with the AIDS resurgence in the 90's - at that time, K&K made face shields to keep medical personal safe. They realized they could do this again. Their employees were brought back to manufacture the much-needed face shields.

As a result, face shields will now become a long term permanent product in their line. They are offering the shields to Leominster schools at a deep discount. This new focus is a definite win-win for the company and the community.

This is a wonderful story of how a company developed a plan to keep people working, keep the company healthy, and survive into the future.
