HOUSEKEEPING
  • It was nice seeing everyone on this Zoom meeting. The banner pics from the meeting are always interesting! For some reason, Cynthia looks better than anyone else :)
  • It was nice to have Jim Fusco and Ron Bott join us.
  • PLEASE NOTE - No meeting next week, Memorial Day 5/25
Membership Update
  • Charlie shared a Membership video that focused on different types of memberships, and how to attract new, non-traditional members.
General Topics
  • The suggestion to collect Happy and Sad dollars was approved and started up this week. Please send in your contribution quarterly to our treasurer.
  • Several club members met and reviewed the Scholarship applications. Four recipients were chosen. Details will be in the next bulletin.
  • There was a suggestion for a fun social event for after quarantine - Family Game Night. This will go before the Admin Committee.
  • To help out our community, let's consider working with Food Banks, which are struggling with the massive need these days. One thought is to get gift cards for local restaurants to give to families, since this will help the restaurant as well as people in need.

Guest Speaker

Ron Bott, District Membership Chair

Ron joined us to talk about Rotary Club membership recruitment. He mentioned that 25% of Clubs are not meeting at all during quarantine, 36 people attended the District Membership meeting (including himself and Frank), and that he receives our Club bulletin and it really helps keep him engaged with us. He is glad to see we are still involved with the community. We briefly discussed alternative types of memberships, such as Passport, and how they can benefit a Club and the community if we get the right people in.

** VOLUNTEER             OPPORTUNITY! **

This FRIDAY, 5/22, at 4:30 pm,  Johnny  will be on location with the flower boxes and the flowers. Please join in the fun of planting these lovely flowers on a beautiful day! Bring your masks and gloves (gardening gloves, that is).

Flower Box Project Updates

Huge thanks to Johnny for taking the lead on our annual flower box project. Last week, the boxes themselves were painted and refurbished. All signs were removed, and it is proposed that we create new signs for the sponsors, ones that are consistent across all businesses and with our Rotary logo and colors. These efforts will help ensure that current sponsors renew, and that we can entice news sponsors as well.

Here's an example of the proposed sign design:

And enjoy these before and after pics of our beautiful flower boxes!
